Fall Protection Equipment Certification and Training

Certification of Fall Protection Systems and Equipment

Upon completion of installation, all components in your fall protection and/or fall arrest system are inspected and certified. Certification documents the fall protection system and related personal protection equipment meets OSHA regulations. Proper signage verifies the system’s tested capabilities and operational limits and informs outside inspectors that the system has been tested by an OSHA-defined "Qualified Person" (see below.) Finally, a systems installation manual and binder is presented to the customer.

You can rely on DFP for Complete Fall Protection System Training

Managing and mitigating fall hazards requires first establishing a specific fall protection policy for those who work in and around your facility.

The next step is training staff (and internal trainers) in the proper use of the techniques and use of fall protection equipment. Following installation of any fall protection equipment, your staff will receive training during an interactive hands-on session.

Training sessions include specific, detailed information on the operation of your fall protection system, personal protective equipment, and all accessory hardware. We conduct this fall protection training for users of the system, management, and any future in-house trainers who will become the OSHA-identified “competent person” for your facility.

OSHA describes and defines different roles for “competent person and “qualified person” when designating responsibility for different aspects of a safe, fall protected working environment.

[According to OSHA….

A "competent person" is defined by OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1926.32 (f) as someone"... who is capable of identifying existing and predicable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them"

29 CFR 1926.32 (m) defines a "qualified person" as someone"... who, by possession of a recognized degree, certificate, or professional standing, or who by extensive knowledge, training, and experience, has successfully demonstrated his ability to solve or resolve problems relating to the subject matter, work, or the project"]
