Design Considerations

Purpose: To provide a consistent overhead anchorage point for workers on top of trucks and railcars. Comprehensive loading rack fall protection for a lower price than a large gangway system.

Performance: Overhead anchorage reduces free-fall distance and swing fall than side-anchorage designs ideal for trucks and railcars where fall clearance is usually limited. Provides fluid protection where gangway designs are insufficient for different sized trucks and railcars creating gaps between rails and taking into account that an open hatch is considered a hole in the walking, working surface.

Options: Continuous truss or sectional truss layouts are available.

Best use cases

• Truck and railcar loading/unloading where hatch placement, gaps, or removable gangway sections prevent consistent fall protection and fail to meet the railing requirements 
• Provide consistent protection regardless of railing gaps
• Support flexible system designs
• Are less expensive than a comprehensive gangway system
